My photo
This is a blog about our life. I started the blog because we lived overseas for my husbands job. That meant it was hard to keep family, back in The States, in the loop about what we were up to. It also became a great way to share my sons birth story with everyone who we wish could have been there. I slowly got busy with life & stopped blogging. Here we are in 2014, living back in the good ol' USA & as we make life changes I find this to be a great way to share my thoughts and save them for my son to look back on someday.

Good News

Had a doctors appointment today. All is well and we are still having a boy. I had to have blood drawn today and for the first time ever, the nurse didn't get it on the first try. Every time I get blood drawn they look at my veins and say its going to be hard, they might need to get a pediatric nurse yada yada yada but it never fails they always get it on the first try. This time though she missed. Luckily, she didn't keep trying, she just called the doctor who came and did it. Now I have heard all these stories about how they will dig around with the needle until they get it. Lucky me I am pretty sure that is what the doctor did. She didn't get it first try either, however, she never pulled the needle out so she must have moved around until she got it. It didn't hurt or anything so I didn't think much of it. Now that I am home though, it hurts just to type this. I have never been sore or bruised after having blood drawn. I am not mad just find it interesting that Germans were the first to not be able to get it on the first try and the first to leave me sore and bruised HAHA. Oh well. So Little Man was all over the place today during the ultrasound. Maybe he knew his dad wasn't there so he wasn't about to cooperate. The Dr couldn't even get a clear shot of his face. She flipped on the 3D to try and see if she could get a shot that way but NOPE, he wasn't having it. So while I saw the 3D, there was nothing to see but blurriness because he moved way too much. She did confirm he is still a he. She also approved me to fly back to the states and even gave me the letter to fly in case the airlines give me any trouble. I will have another apt right before I leave just to be sure all is well. Super excited to go back to the states for a little vacay!

4.22.2011

Just some random thoughts.
So we wanted to get as much used stuff for the baby as possible. This is much easier said than done since we are not in the States. In the States there are used baby stores EVERYWHERE. I had two stores to go through here on base. Neither of which had much. I did get what I could. Just because we getting used doesn't mean I am getting gross. What I mean is that the used stuff I was willing to get needed to be in decent condition not old smelly condition. Makes me wonder what people think when they donate stuff. I was able to find some brand new burp clothes at one store. Fancy huh? haha. Anywho, now that we have exhausted those options on base we actually have to start shopping for all the baby stuff. I say "all this baby stuff" but it really isn't all that much. Our shopping list is super short as we are staying away from all the extras that we don't really think we will use or need. So yesterday I sat down with my fancy little list so that I could get started. Who knew I was going to get all frustrated. I thought I would sit down, click a few items and be done. Of course shopping online is never that easy.
First I made the mistake of opening four different stores to make sure I get the best deal for my dollar.  Well that just opened up a bazillion versions of each item. So my eyes wander and Im like CRAP, which one should I get? So I start reading reviews, which really is kind of pointless. I mean for every item there will be good and bad reviews right? So I just start to look to see if there are more bad than good reviews and what not. HAHA, Im so lazy. Luckily I have been around enough babies and kids to know more or less what doesn't work and what we will actually get some use out of. Anyway, all of this would be SO SO much easier if I could just run to WalMart and get it all there. I would just take whatever they have.
Next I wanted to start on our registry. A couple family members have asked what we need. Well really at this point that list exists of everything since we haven't shopped yet. So I start making these things. Well that is a whole new headache. Half the crap on the websites is not sold in stores. Well what the heck is the point. AHHH!! And then I don't really know what to put on these things since we are being such minimalists. So there is just random stuff on there.
So yes the registries for BabiesRUs and WalMart are done. If anyone wants to see them they just have to search one of our names and they should be there.
By the way, I still didn't order any baby stuff HAHAHA.
My next doctors appointment is next week. It is then that I will ask about flying back to the states in May/June. Say a prayer he says that is not a problem.

Movement

Friday, I was blessed with this crazy onset of allergies and sinus issues. I was miserable and didn't get out of bed all day. It is my fault because while sitting in class last week the instructor and students were talking about allergies. I of course said mine hadn't kicked in. Figured it was because of the pregnancy and EVERYTHING is different when pregnant. Well I guess Little Mr decided to show me who was boss. My allergies have always been pretty mild, however, this time they are full on. I was eventually coughing so hard that it would make me throw up all that phlegm/mucus crap. NOT FUN!! Luckily they have eased off some, after two entire boxes of puffs w lotion tissue. Too bad when you blow your nose that much not even puffs w/ lotion saved my poor nose. It is so pretty...well if you call  red and raw pretty... EWW!!!
Anywho, this morning The Mr and I were laying in bed discussing a grocery list and Little Mr was wide awake and full of movement. I just assume he is awake when I can feel him moving and asleep when I can't feel him. Of course I really have no idea if there is any correlation and I don't bother looking this stuff up HAHA. So I lifted my shirt up a little to see my belly and could actually see him kick. Once once again I really have no idea if it is a kick or not, could be something else, who knows right!? Well my belly moved up and down like he was kicking his way out. I told The Mr to look and even he could see it clear as day. I really thought it was too early to see this. I guess not. He gave a couple more good kicks for us to see and then I guess he got comfy and went back to sleep.
On another note, I find it super weird that I have a hard time getting out of bed already. Well not really a hard time, I just had to learn to roll out of bed rather than sit straight up. I can't even imagine how that will be once I am further along. Good times huh?
Other than that, all is well. Busy busy with school. It never ends. Midterms done, so countdown to summer vacay WOOHOO!! USA here we come. I cannot wait to see all the family and friends back home.

21 Weeks

So today I hit 21 weeks. Seems crazy that we are only 4 months out from meeting the new addition to our family. We still haven't picked a name. I don't think we are really too rushed. Just taking it one day at a time. His cousin Alex calls him Hortencio, his cousin Andrew calls him Carlos and his dad calls him something new every few days. Poor kid is already going to be called all different things. He seems like a pretty lazy baby. I only feel him move a lot in the mornings and at night. But throughout the day I guess he sleeps or just hangs out. Who knows. Hopefully he is that way once he is born too. He has managed to make my belly big enough that my pants are uncomfortable now. Which is difficult when I need to sit through 3hr long classes for school. Thank goodness for yoga pants and sweats.
Here we are yesterday, one day shy of 21 weeks.

It's a BOY

So we had another appointment Thursday the 31st. All is healthy and well. Our little guy was not shy at all and made it loud and clear that he is a boy. I was a little nervous going into the appointment because so many people talk about how they had to wait longer to find out because the baby did not want to cooperate. I wouldn't mind in the States because we can just go out and shop last minute. However, since we will have to order so much stuff online and wait for it to get here I wanted to know as soon as possible. I guess the baby knows so he cooperated. Or he is already spoiled like his father and wants us to shop for him hahaha.  That is really all that is going on baby wise. Another appointment in 4 weeks, until then...
